After finishing up the ball joint on the driver's side of my '97 CSE I noticed that the outer boot had split on the passenger side axle. It must have happened very recently, there was very little grease lost and the axle hasn't been making any noise. I normally check them at every oil change and it was OK at that time.
What's the best way to remove and replace the axle? The old Quasimotors site says to unbolt the hub from the strut assembly:

I'm a little concerned about how tough that's going to be due to rust, though I really don't know yet. Does removing the ball joint yield enough clearance to do the job? If so I could just replace the joint on the other side along with the axle.
