Some people must have much better luck than me when removing the CV joint from the axle. I've gone so far as putting the CV in a parts cleaner to get rid of all the grease so I can see the internal circlip, used special pliers to make sure it was released all the way and was still not able to remove the CV. I have always had better luck doing the outer boot from the tripod end. The external snap ring is a "snap" to remove (pun intended). I think there may be a lot of variation in the tolerances on reman units and maybe mine were just stuck. On my 97's the first time the splined shaft had to be pushed out of the hub they were really tight due to the black gunk they used on the splines on the later 9000's. For following axle changes it's easier. Glad it went well. Once you have all the correct tools gathered up the job goes pretty quickly.
