Hi folks!
Thanks in advance for your assistance...
I had my battery checked a month ago, I was told it was ok @ 11 volts. Since then, (this might have happened three or four times), I would turn the key and nothing would happen, the dash would go dark and the engine would not turn over. It would then start normally upon retrying it. Since then, I was told that either my battery cables were loose or my starter was finished (70000 miles). The cables were since tightened.
Tonight, I went to start the car and it did turn over, the lights dimmed and it felt like it was a weak battery at fault. The engine would turn but not fire (the spark plugs were changed a month ago). I had driven the car perhaps 5 hours earlier, no problem. It is only -12 celcius, not that cold, the battery should not be dead, the car should start.
Basically, do you believe I have a problem with my battery, with my starter, or both?
Can I safely have my car boosted or do I need to remove the battery to have it charged, to avoid electrical surges?
This car is costing me far too much money, there needs to be an end to this. 5000$ a year on repairs is outrageous. A 400$ starter + labor won't help me appreciate this car more...
Thanks for your advice and encouragement!
