and the car starts just fine now. I had them test the old battery where I bought the new one, and it was reading just over 12 volts (this is the same battery that wouldn't get my car to start). They checked the battery fluid levels, and 2 of the three chambers tested were in the red zone, whatever this implies. Anyway, it starts ok now!
As for the "click and then absolutely nothing" I got a few times, I guess I will prepare mentally for a new ignition switch. How likely is it that I will be stranded somewhere because of this problem? It has occured three or four times already, (I would turn the key and nothing would happen, the engine would not crank, the dash lights went out, etc.), but upon trying again, it would start. Anyone have an idea on how much a new ignition switch would cost? This dosn't have anything to do with the starter, right?
Well, I'm rolling again, but I'm not fully trusting of my saab...
