Aero guy is right on the money- couldn't agree more. Why people who have 100K+ mi on a perfectly running engine that has been lubed with conventional oil would want to switch to synthetic escapes me. The risks outweigh the benefits by a large margin. The best legitimate use of synthetic in these cases is as a cleaner (noisy valve lifters), but even for this, naptha based engine cleaners are bound to do a better job in just 10 minutes at idle.
