Solenoid (BPS) located on the rad(assuming the three hoses are in a verticle plane alignment). remove that and the Waste gate no longer can compensate or respond to signals from the ECU. Be careful with this so that you don't overboost. The 94 L engine CR is 9.25, rough calculation is that the difference between the 93 head (8.5 CR) and the 94 is slightly less than 1 mm, then if an additional 1 mm was removed it is conceivable the new CR is around 10-10.5 or higher bcause as you shorten the head the volume decreases rapidly because of curvature, The CR of the non turbo engines is 10.5. I have seen an aluminum repair spacer used on some other cars but never one for Saab. To properly fit one of these you will have to remove the head and do what is called a head volume measurement on each cylinder then calculate the amount of spacer required. I have also once used two head gaskets to get by but that is pretty dicey and a poor recoendation. I don't know where the volume is recorded other than at the factory and that info may not be releasable. I would try to find out how much was removed if at all possible and then you may not really know, the head could have been planed off once before unless you have all the history on your car. This could also be an execise in frustration why not go to a dealer have him search the codes and recalibrate your ECU this will relieve a lot of anxiety and give you some peace of mind.
THIS is my FIRST recommendation. You can play with base boost and other things to compensate for too much compression AFTER you know what the ECU is telling the turbo to do.
