My intention in getting the MBC is not to increase the performance of the car, but to hold it below the fuel cut off. This is safe. I agree with you that a MBC could harm the car if my intent was to deceive the MAP and run wild levels of boost, but that's not what I'm doing.
BTW, if you re-read my original post you'll note that I've already replaced my plugs with no change (NGKBCPR7ES11). I'm going to try and borrow a known good DI from the dealer to see if there's any change.
This is an ongoing, time consuming and darn expensive, project. Please don't think that I drive around hitting the fuel cut off -- I'm not that far gone ;-) In fact, because I've learned to drive around the problem, I only hit the fuel cut off if I'm testing to see if my latest fix has worked.
In any event, Brian, let us know if you find the cure to your problem. Hopefully it'll be one of the more cost effective remedies.
