I posted a few days ago looking for instructions on how to swap out pads and rotors on my brother's '96 9000. Started the job this afternoon, got through the driver side rear without any problems. Switched over to the passenger side and of course something's wrong. (Murphy's Law of Automotive Repair strikes again.) I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the problem at hand, but the passenger side was definitely the bad side - full metal-to-metal contact between the outer pad and the rotor.

Anyway, the problem is that he caliper piston won't retract at all using the 4mm allen-head bolt. I can kinda feel a slight clicking as I turn the 4mm allen-head socket with my bare fingers, it feels like the threads that mate the bolt to the piston are slipping by each other. I had my brother apply pressure (by hand) to the piston while I turned the bolt, hoping that bit of pressure would allow the threads to pop into place, but no dice. I also tried turning in the opposite direction, again hoping that would somehow reposition the threads, but no luck there either.

I'm going to talk to the dealer tomorrow to see if their service guys can give me any tips. Do you guys know of anything I can/should try, or am I SOL? I was kind of hoping to accomplish the pad/rotor swap without having to worry about bleeding the brakes, so I'll be kinda ticked if I have to replace the caliper. But, if that's my only option....so be it.
