don't apply light pressure on to piston with a screwdriver or prybar while retracting the allen bolt it's possible to break the gear. Sometimes I have been lucky to get it to work by using a big plier that spans over piston and caliper body and apply pressure while rotating the bolt clockwise (moving the piston toward the rotor again) You can hear some clicking and feel the piston move a little bit but then go back in again. After several turns (maybe 10-15) the bolt is back at zero and starts pushing on the piston. Now you start turning counter clockwise and keep light pressure with the plier and the piston might retract. The self adjusting parkbrake will probably not work on that side but the brakes will.
