The motors in these cars are fairly robust. Check and change the cooling hose. Fill er up and try it out.
Buy a compression test kit at Walmart and run a test on the engine. If one or two cylinders are much lower, you probly blew the head gasket (or warped the head, or cracked a valve).
Here's the thing: At 150kmi, you are entering the zone where head gaskets need replacement anyway. I would also do the timing chain, and balance chain and drive gear if it looks trashed. Chances are that the turbo is actually ok, but do the checks suggested by others. Additionally, there are probably some other hoses and belts that need attention anyway.
If you are able to DIY this job, it probably won't go over $1k usd for parts and supplies (presuming head is ok). If you like the car and it is in otherwise excellent condition, it may be very much worth it to have a tight and smooth running machine.
