David, As John and Kevinwrote, I would advise the use of the 8 cog shaft. Although some what more noisy, it is much more reliable. The 1.85 shaft will fit, but the 1.85 water pump not. There is another option of an electric water pump kit for the B engine that was developed in Australia.
