with the 12 cog pumps....and doing one makes me nervous, even with the proper tool. My first attempt on my 73(with a 79 block), it leaked oil because of a faulty installation procedure. Then I busted off half of the threads on the end of the pump shaft removing the impeller. Since I was still able to thread the shaft onto the tool, I installed the pump correctly, but it leaked coolant this time. I posted a few weeks ago that it had stopped leaking, but looking at it last night, it's leaking again. I'm tired of pulling 99 engines and disassembling them, so this one is gonna keep dribbling and it's gonna keep its 12 cog shaft for now.
I bought one of those ebay 12 cog shafts and impeller, but from the reads I'm getting, it may be certain doom for the idler shaft....hmmm.
I have a spare 8 cog idler shaft sitting in the barn, waiting for the day my 12 cogger dies.
