The 95/96 heater is _very_ efficient. Even on a VERY COLD day you will need the thermostatic coil on that heater control. If you snip it, you will only have _ON_ and off and you seldom need anything warmer than on. I used to only move the heat lever on about 1/2" and could steam water off the windshield on a below freezing day. Even at -20 in New Hampshire, the heat was never turned on more than halfway and the cabin was toasty warm.
