All the AMSOIL or BG44 flush does is remove the sludge/varnish which the synthetic will do more slowly. If you don't use it, there isn't going to be any mass destruction. You may see some oil consumption simply because dirty oil doesn't seal as well as clean oil. If, after a couple thousand miles, you note a sudden increase in oil consumption, replace the oil filter and top off.
If you can find the flush without much problem, warm the car up, put in the flush, and fast idle for about 20 minutes. Then give the key to the indy and let him/her change the oil. AMSOIL found that the use of the flush dropped complaints about oil consumption about 75%--but that was quite a few years ago, and the non-synthetics are much better than they were.
