If you read my posts you might notice that I'm more of a doom and gloom person.
The reason for that is that most customers want to get the car fixed the right way the first time even if it cost more. Nothing is more frustrating than having to come back over and over again after having the same symptoms coming back.
You could probably get by with lubing and cleaning as good as possible but it is no guarantees.
The weak spot on the cutch cable is at both ends, and most of the time it breaks right were the aluminum disc is crimped on at clutch arm side.
If you look carefully at the clutch arm when someone operating the clutch pedal you will see how that white block and aluminum disc is wiggling back and forth.
That is a bending motion that will pick one strand at the time of the wire and break them. Just like you can break a coat hanger by bending it back and forth enough times.
Lubing the cradle of clutch arm where the white block reside may slow down the bending motion but it is inevitable that it will come back.
Greasing the cable will not stop that from happening either.
But by lubricating the cable you might slow down the chance of breakage up by the other white plastic eyelet that hooks around pedal.
