This is what it could look like if the oil pump has been passing too much of metal debris raining down from the worn out balance sprockets.
The surface where that piece is lodged should be as smooth as a babys behind with no scoring and the same surface on the front engine cover should also be smooth.
In bad case scenarios as this particular engine it was actually difficult to pull that inner pump gear out due to that the scoring had started to mesh between housing and gear.
