Some dealers sell parts above the Saab list price, which you can look up on the genuinesaab.com web site. eEuroparts.com and other online retailers sell the same part at a discount from the list price. That is where the difference comes from. For example, upper idler pulley:
Dealer, $63
Saab List, $44
europarts, $35
generic grooved pulley, <$20 at a parts store
(an M8-125 bolt for the same pulley is $3, compared to 25 cents for the same grade 8 type bolt at a hardware store)
Unfortunately, the dealer HAS to charge high prices for parts, because the other services they provide are not enough to keep the Service Department with its overhead in the black. Same as buying a drink in a restaurant bar... $1 worth of Liquor and some mixer becomes a drink for $6.
