I recently made the decision to buy a 9-3 and am anxiously waiting delivery at the moment. Before purchasing, I test drove the SAAB several times and other vehicles too. Granted, it does not handle like a BMW nor did I do a Car and Driver style rigorous test drive, I found the handling quite good. The body did have some lean, but never did it feel unsafe. Actually, it feels a lot safer than my 4x4 Jimmy (lease end) or probably any other van/SUV for that matter.
I think this dangerous handling thing is a bit overblown. If there was truly a problem, I think the media would have jumped all over it. Remember the Audi TT, MB A Class, Suzuki Samurai handling fiasco? Surely we would have heard something if SAABs were the same. I'm very happy with my decision and won't lose any sleep over it.
