I've put 2000 miles on my '01 SE 5-speed since March 26, and for the first 500 was wondering why on earth I didn't just go with the auto. My previous two cars were Cateras, and the adjustment back to gear stirring was somewhat traumatic, coupled with inital concerns with the feel of the SE tranny. However, now I'm much more comfortable with the feel of the shifts. The 9-3 is a unique automobile that requires some adjustments (at least for me).
My typical commute is part country two lanes and part city freeways. On the way home, in the more rural areas, in the evening, I think of the "drive it like you stole it" phrase someone has posted here before, and do just that. 2nd, 3rd , 4th are really nice around 4000 rpm, although 4000 in 4th is around 75+mph with one left to go. No tickets yet.
