My wife took our Saab to the dealer yesterday to have the car checked. These guys have been great with my car, but did not find a problem. They watched my wife shift and then showed her that she was hurrying the shift particularly into reverse. They recommended going to first to synchronize the gear box and then place it in reverse. Since then there has been no problem. So chalk this one up to operator error and the realization that one doesn't hurry the shifts in a Saab. My Integra has a short shifter that works like a switch. The feel is very different between the cars. Anyway, I am pleased that nothing is broke. Thanks to everyone for the advice.
