Well I think that is a totally stupid version of theft control. What happens if your total your SAAB and they strip it for parts and you buy the radio to replace a defective unit. How are they going to divorce when the orginal car was totaled? This would make none of the SAAB electronic parts salvageable for aftermarket. Do I hear a conspiracy here for dealers to sell only new SAAB aftermarket electronics?
I know that GM radios if you set the security code there is a master code reset that the dealer can get by contacting their support center and giving the radio id from the bottom of the unit.
Doesn't SAAB have the same capability or are all our radios destined to become boat anchors.
