Well I just contacted my SAAB dealer and he confirmed about "Divorcing" a factory radio while its still installed in the vechical. He said I would have to remove my aftermark radio and fully reinstall the SAAB radio. The cost would be 1 hr of labor at $89 per hr just to do the Divorce radio removal would be extra 1/2 hr. It took me 2 minutes to remove the radio orginally and another 5 minutes to get out the metal cage.
He said that their might be one other option of sending the radio off for repairs they usually come back "Divorced". Cost of this service $270 plus 2 weeks. He couldn't guarentee it would come back "Divorced" though.
This is a rip off.
I am supposed to spend hours ripping out a install just so a dealer can clear a few bits of information from the radio?
You won't see me promoting SAAB in the future with this type of service.
