wheel base, and size. Thank goodness for composites and advanced aluminum fashioning; without these the 996 would weigh 3 tons. I believe the curb weight actually dropped in the 996 over the 993, even though it still drives like a much larger car. BTW, the loss of the alternator/fan whine robbed the car of a lot of personality.
