If your tires are directional, then you have to keep F to R, R to F but if not, it's worth a try to move them.
About your alignment. They can say it's "fine" when it isn't because only the front toe is adjustable. Everything else is stuck where it is.
Apparently, a very good alignment shop can use GM shims to align the rear. Mine is out and I've love to find a place in New England that can help. I think they are F or J-body shims. I forget which.
ps. I had a similar issue with noisy tires. The Firestone SZ50s I had wore fantastic, ableit quick. They were so quiet, smooth and sticky, I had no idea that basically no tread was left until I slipped in the rain. They lasted about 20K miles.
