It's the same in classic 900's also. I have to agree with you about your specific points. I just can't get as comfortable in this car as I can in the old 900.
I really like the exterior of the 9-3 but the interior just doesn't have a real solid, quality feel to it.
I drove a friends '03 9-3SS yesterday and I was very impressed with the interior. I was surprised by this because prevailing opinion here was that it was cheap and "plasticy". Can't say anything too much for ergonomics but....the window switches were moved to driver door armrest. I thought the interior was nice. New materials used. Could be because it was in grey which always lends itself to a nice looking interior IMO.
I think the exterior of the 9-3SS is nice, especially with the optional wheel package but I still can't see myself driving a SAAB without a hatchback unless it is a convertible.
