In layman's terms, horsepower gives you top speed while torque gives you acceleration. Of course, you can only drive so fast legally, so to a point horsepower doesn't mean a lot.
If you look at muscle cars like the Ford Mustang, it may have only a few more HP than say a 240 HP Honda Accord, but the Accord doesn't accelerate as fast because the Mustang has about 100 more ft/lb of torque.
That's why large trucks (semis, etc.) use diesel engines. Diesels are known for big torque and low horsepower. The reason this is important is because heavy vehicles need torque to accelerate. Those vehicles need the torque so they can be driven in traffic. Without the torque, it would take them forever to get to speed.
With that said, an Arc/Vector is likely to blow away a TSX.
