and go for the auto, i am not sure what someone could tell you to convince you not to listen to "the one who must be obeyed" but you will probably be happy with either a manual or auto, i had to compromise similarly when i bought my 9-3 and while i sometimes miss a manual i also enjoy just putting it in sport mode and scooting. the button shifters or manumatics seem nice but i found after driving around in a 9-3 ss for a day the novelty wears off, you can essentialy achieve the same effect by manually shifting the any auto from 1 to 2 to 3 etc. after a few times of doing that you realize why bother? enjoy your new convertible!
