My wife and I both have 1999 9-3's. Mine is a 5 spd HOT, hers is and auto. Whenever we drive down to NYC or over to Boston, we take her car because of the traffic, whenever we go cruising in the Adirondacks, we take mine. We made the decision to get an auto for my wife - because she said so...
The good news is that she can drive a stick, but prefers an auto. I figure I have the best of both worlds...
In regard to performance, I do not mind driving my wife's Saab - it is in fact perfect for city driving and once we get on the highway, there is virtually no noticable difference.
For both cars, I put in an SAS and a K&N filter - these two upgrades certainly add to the fun factor for both.
Happy motoring!
