Never until I hit the rev limiter...

...driving around town I rarely get out of 2nd, and 4th is a rarity even on the freeway.
Ok, just kidding... Normal, everyday driving, probably 3k-3500, unless I'm really trying to conserve gas, then maybe 2500-3k.
When I find some windy twisties and I'm having a little bit of fun, 4k or so. When I find great windy twisties and I'm having a lot of fun, 5k. When I'm demonstrating the concept of "turbo" to a Saab newbie, put it in 2nd on an onramp, take it all the way to redline (about 60mph), hit 3rd, and take it to 5k or so. By then they're going "whoa", "slow down", or "yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" That's about the only practical place I've found to take it to redline. One of these days I'm gonna take a trip out to the Arizona desert and go 1-5, doing all 4 shifts at redline; but I need a place where it's safe to drive 120+
The 9-3 is less nerve-wracking to rap out than my old C900...it sounds like the motor's gonna blow up on that thing at 4k+, but I still do it every SO often. Never taken that one to redline though.
Cheers,
'Roo
