You asked ....
"? Installation of 5.25", 1.88" deep speakers (about $20 on ebay) in door bays, fed by splices from front outputs on back of stereo. Speakers are "midbass", and should bring additional bass to the front from the floor area while keeping the adequate front dash speakers in tact. I plan to use the speaker connections already present in the door, and then cut them after they pass through the door connection, splicing in new wires straight to the head unit. Does anyone know if 1.88" is too deep for the door mount positions? I don't want to take off the door panels until I need to for installation."
The factory door speakers are actually 6-1/2's or 6-3/4. I have POLK EX3560 (6 1/2) Components in the door and dash, they have a depth of 2-5/16, and they work.
The ends of the wires that go to the door can be found behind the passenger side kick panel.
