But they are suppossed to add something.
Some comments. The 6x9s are the "sub-woofers" though they produce no bass to speak of. The front and rear corner speakers are all component speakers so that you have woofer, midrange & tweeter on both sides of the back parcel shelf; woofers in each of the front doors, midrange & tweeter on both sides of the dash & a center speaker. A whole lot of drivers to sound like a $50 boom box. I moved over from an '01 Aero wagon, which sounded excellent, and I expected the same quality. Boy was I disappointed. The 9-3SS 300w setup is shrill, tinny and you flat out cannot hear some of the musical content on some of the live CDs that I listened to in the 9-5. This is my #1 complaint about the car. It is a good reason to look at another vehicle.
