From my experiences, Saabs have incredible bad weather handling. Going back and forth from Vermont to Boston all the time, I've been caught in some nasty snow storms, and not once had any trouble.
Everyone else is very right about the tires, and I'll say this. My 9-3 came with the Michelin MVX's. They are really expensive tires, but crap in my opinion. I didn't keep them long enough to test them in the snow, but I would be sliding all over the place in the rain. I switched to a reletively inexpensive Yokohama (cheaper than the michilens) and those baby's stick to the road like glue. Then of course I have snow tires for the winter.

Dean is exactly right, if its one thing you spend money on for your car, it should be good tires. The radio and bright lights can come later.

Hope this doesn't sound mean hearted, as I am sorry. Accidents suck! but remember that it is an accident.
