How tight was the corner anyhow? Let's be serious, flying around hairpins marked for 10mph at 35 in the rain is going to get you in trouble no matter what you're driving.
I mention tires because of the past year's events with my '85 SPG, and '93 Aero. Had a set of Goodyear Eagle HPs on the SPG which I was not thrilled with on dry pavement, but these things were the next best thing to slicks in the rain. they freaking stank! No traction to speak of.
The Aero had a set of ContiTouringContacts on it and still does, they're worn to about 5/32nds. They've got a five rib design ala pirelli, and the car does NOT like getting up my driveway in the snow, even with TCS. Lots of flashing lights and ABS noises. The '85 SPG with 4 good snow tires goes up the driveway like it's nothing even with 6 inches of untouched snow on it, and a huge pile of crap at the bottom thrown up by the plow.
Enough of that though. Don't blame the car for your mistakes. I can think of several people I know who I flat out refuse to ride with in a car unless I have no other choice, because they have absolutely no idea how to handle a car in an emergency. My own mother is one of them, long story but several times I've been literally scared for my life by her driving, to the point of grabbing the OS handles and yelling at her (and apologizing later)...
