I'm willing to bet you think your didn't handle well in bad weather because it had not so great tires. The steering predictability of these cars is amazing, but if the tires are crap, the car will handle like crap. Just like you wouldn't wear leather-soled shoes in the ice, you can't have bad tires in slippery situations (or at any time for that matter).
Earlier this winter, I was able to get through 7 inches of unplowed snow, while my friend in his 4X4 Explorer could not stop spinning out, sliding around, and doing 360s. And that's with my almost-worn Hakkas. So sorry to sound harsh, but you can't blame the car for this one. Its all in the tires.
