I saw it and some of your other posts, thanks! I think it goes back to NG900 model cars and the use of this type of crank case vent system. With the 9-3 model it just got worse.
For one thing, there is only ONE check-valve (PCV valve), and the other side of the three-way connection is open, right?
The theory is that when the turbo creates positive pressure in the intake and valve cover, the valve is closed and the gasses are expelled to the intake. When there is negative air pressure (vacuum) in the TB and intake manifold, the valve opens and crank case gasses are drawn from the crank case into the throttle body, BUT there is no corresponding check valve to prevent air from the intake from entering the plastic three-way T-connector at the same time.
So, depending on driving conditions and as relative pressures change, some of the time air may be drawn into the TB through the open side of the T-connector and not from the crank case. With a lot of start-stop traffic and driving with a cold engine, who knows how well that system really works?
Did you see the link I posted to pics of what I found under my valve cover? I am trying Auto-Rx now (but I ran a quick flush and had the oil pressure tested first).
