I never saw any coolant on the floor when my '97 900se was leaking either (at about 100k). It started off small and got worse and worse as determined by how often I had to fill the reservoir.
You can tell if you have the head gasket leak problem by runnning the engine and looking at the driver's side front corner of the head/block interface. You should see some seepage there. The problem is that the engine gets hot and evaporates the coolant that leaks out so you never see any hit the floor. I had my head re-torqued by the local indy for about $150 in labor and parts (valve cover gasket). No coolant usage since. It's good to catch it before it gets worse and coolant begins to contaminate the oil.
Have a look.
