If you are planning to keep it for years to come, you should pull the cylinder head, oil pan and timing cover off and see what it needs.
Minimum would be all the plastic guides and chains and the balance chain tensioner. Maybe even the two sprockets for balanace shafts if they show any wear symptoms.
If you are planning to sell the car soon, it's up to you if you want to pass the repairs to someone else.
Todays engines are wearing down the plastic guides a lot faster than they did before. It seems to have started in mid 90s and is going on into the 2000.
The shop charge to do this is around $2000.00 parts and labor but could go up in the $2500.00 if it is more worn parts.
