Thanks- I will make a point of having the SAAB Mast Tech check out the entire front-end suspension, however, given the correlation of the loose steering with the tightening of the clamp, too tight initially then loosening to just right and then too loose- I assume the root cause is displaced rubber gasket in the clamp or stripped nuts and bolts.
Wish Talieferro was in St. Louis as Springfield is a day trip. Still if I can not get the replacement clamp from MP to fix the issue, then I may see what Nick can offer. Saw his six point subframe brace and his engine bay brace and am thinking there would stiffen my front end nicely. Nick's steering ramp clamp seems to have no rubber gasket so I suppose it would sound like metal on metal which would be nasty in 20 degree weather.
