Hi there
I have a 96 900SC Turbo Conv with 37,000 miles (yes, that's 37,000 miles)
Over the weekend we had our first couple inches of rain in Los Angeles. I went for a drive during a break in the rain. Every time I made a turn I found myself doused with water that seemed to have collected in the convertible top siderail and through one latch at the windshield.
Upon inspection, both siderails were full of water but without any obvious entry point. Nothing appears defective with the top: the rubber and gaskets appear normal and pliable without any cracks or visible defects. The top itself is in excellent condition. I noticed later that water collecting in the siderails had begun seeping into the car.
Any thoughts about finding / fixing this leak and addressing the effect of water in this part of the top mechanism?
To compound matters, the instrument cluster stopped working (odometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, dash light) and the SRS light stays on after cycling on normally. Other items on the dash (ACC, stereo, seat belt light) continue to work fine. Perhaps it is related to the water that briefly poured in. Any suggestions on this would be appreciated too.
