T5 DICs as a rule do not have the early failures as seen with the T7's.
Hit the fuel tank from below!
As the vehicle was running at the time, this does not seem to be a pump that simply can't get started as it was turning then died.
The pump gets power for a second or two with ignition is turned on, then goes off until the ECU sees from the crankshaft postition sensor (CPS) that the engine is been cranked when you start it up. The fuel pump relay energizes the fuel pump fuse. So one can expect to see power on that fuse when the ignition first goes on, then when cranking. If the CPS is bad, the pump will not be energized. If no power on that fuse when cranking, the CPS could have failed. CPS wires can be examined for damage.
If fuel pump fuse gets power and you can't hear the pump run, then the wiring or pump may be bad. From the fuse, one can measure the resistance to ground through the pump. If open circuit, you have a wiring or pump failure. With fuse out, note what side gets power, the other side goes to the pump.
