So when this all went down my gas gauge had the needle just entering the orange. For shits and giggles I filled up about 1.5-2 gallons in a gas tank and put it in the car. It appeard to make no change w/ the needle. However, I jumped the car ( it died from trying to start a lot) and I got the car going and it ran just like it used to. I let the car idle for 5 min then i drove about a mile home. Then I went and put about $25 in gas in and the needle did in fact appear to work.
-Could my problem possibly been from running out of gas but my gauge was reading innacurately? It said I was 35 miles until empty. But could my gauge be reading about 1/6 tank more than it really is full?
-Is there any way to test if my gauge is accurately reading? Has this ever been a known problem?
-I have to make a 3 hour trip on sat, if I bring it to a trusted shop, is there anyway for them to check if the fuel pump is reliable? It appears to be working perfect now and never before has shown any negative signs.
-Also, the check engine light is now gone, can I still go to autozone and find out what the most recent codes were? Or is the check engine light going out a sign that I'm ok?
Thanks in advance for all of the help guys. Im a bit frantic right now because I have to make the long trek back to school on sat and this is my tansportation and its going to be loaded up w/ gear.
