Would you bring your own fish to a seafood restaurant?
Or your own bottle of whiskey to a bar?
I expect the shop probably charged you a book rate. Can they do it faster? A good tech can almost always beat book rate, particularly on the standard stuff.
You should probably have discussed the estimated costs with the shop before agreeing to have the work done.
If they did what you wanted done, and since you apparently couldn't (or wouldn't) do it yourself, sounds like a fair deal. Had you brought it to the corner gas station, they would have learned how to do it on your car, probably taking considerably longer and still might not have done it correctly.
The only thing I bring to the shop that is owner provided is AMSOIL.
I did once need a mass air meter, which they diagnosed and asked me if I wanted them to order a new one $$$$$. Because I've been using them for over 25 years now and have a good relationship (in addition to bringing them AMSOIL), they let my car sit there for a couple of days until my used part came in.
