Hi All. 2002 9-3 w/84k on it. I previously posted that my saab has been stalling shortly after starting in cold weather (though to be honest, it's been nothing but cold in northeast PA!). I'm getting ready to give a call to the mechanic (I've been busy and had people in town, plus I was hoping maybe the problem would disappear), and I wanted to post this again, with a better description. I was concerned that I did not properly describe the problem last night.

Here goes... Purchased car in mid-December 2008. Early Jan I ran a tank of Techron Concentrate. (By way of background, I always use 93 octane.) After I used the Techron, my car would stall after it started. It did not stall once or even try to stall prior to my using the Techron. This happened to coincide with a bought of very cold temps (mornings in the single digits), so I thought maybe it was a fluke. It was not. Has continued almost every day since.

The problem: I start car, it turns on, after a few seconds, the turbo gets all erratic (I watch the turbo), and then it stalls. As I turn it on, if I give it some gas, the car will stay on, but as I ease off the gas, it might shudder a bit (like it wants to stall) but will stay on.

This only seems to happen when the car has been sitting for a while and/or it's cold. If I've been using the car a bunch on a given day, I won't have problems later on in the day. I do not experience any other problems with the car. It runs like a dream and I don't notice any rough idling or loss of power.

The car has new NGK plugs and a new drive belt. I plan to call a saab indy that I found in the area (I'm more or less new to the area so I don't have an established mechanic) to check this out. The DIC has been replaced through the recall. I'd like to give the mechanic as much to go on as possible. I've looked through the boards, but I can't seem to find one cause for this. I figure I'll ask him to look at the car, clean the TB, replace the fuel filter (needs to be done anyways I think), and.... your input? Fuel pressure regulator was mentioned, but I think that might be a pricey install so I'll hope for something less expensive:) Thanks all!
