I had the same problem. It was a bad A/C compressor bearing. The way to rule this out is to put on a shorter belt that bypasses the A/C. There are some threads on the part number, and even a routing diagram I found here. You mention it comes and goes, which would happen as the clutch engaged and disengaged.
Anyhow, bypassing the A/C pulley will tell you if that is indeed what it is.
