Pretty definitely not the o2 sensor. Sounds like a weak battery, bad battery cable or some other electrical issue. Do the dash lights go on? Is the car a manual? If so, is he pushing the clutch all the way in? With my 9-5, it won't start unless the clutch is all the way down to the floor (some kind of safety thing). I guess it could also be something with the ignition switch (maybe it would start if he jiggles the key) or the starter. Good luck, let us know what happens.
