The noise was caused by pressure created by the speed building up under the trim at the top of the window. When the pressure gets high enough to overcome part of the preload on the rubber strip that overlays the paint, it can then vibrate like a reed. I took two short lengths of coffee stir sticks that looked like small soda straws, and inserted them under the rubber strip, near each other to create a spot to bleed the pressure. The noise then was gone.
I mentioned this to Brad at KC Saab after moving to the area, and he was able to fix it while doing some other work. They cut a narrow double sided tape lengthwise, to make it very narrow, and stuck it to the bottom of the rubber where it contacts the paint. They were able to easily remove the whole top strip to apply the tape, then I expect, removed the release paper after putting it back. That way the paint can be properly cleaned in preparation.
I have heard of folks having sealant applied. I hope that that was for another problem other than the howeling that can come from the glass at windspeeds of 70 to 80 mph.
Glueing the rubber strip to the paint also sounds like disaster.
This sounds like a DIY if the complete weather strip and trim at the top of the window can be removed without any trick tools or obscure technique. I think that it slides down over the glass as it is removed. Haynes offers no help on that topic.
