My guess is that your DI is original. It is not unusual for one to give up after 60-70k miles if it has not been properly cared for.
I have heard somewhere that individual coils can be bought for the DI, but it's probably more economical to buy a used spare if you're worried about it.
According to what I've read, your new DI could easily last 150-200k miles if you care for it. This means checking plug gap at each oil change (always keep it < 1.0mm), always using dielectric grease on the boots/plugs, and replacing the plugs regularly (15k miles, always use NGK BCPR7ES). Apparently, while the plugs may appear fine, they are not necessarily fine. Plug resistance changes over time, and resistance is very important to the DI, so don't take chances with older plugs.
