...the coil should last that long. While I don't think DI failure at < 70k miles is common, it is also not totally impossible. I have seen posts by several in this mileage range who've had to replace their DI. 9000's have been DI equipped since 1991, so there's a lot of DI talk over there. I am, in fact, currently experiencing the early effects of DI failure in my 9000 Aero at 73k miles. What's really weird about the DI is that sometimes it works perfectly, then won't work at all the next time you start. Other times, only three of the coils fire. And, sometimes, it causes periodic mis-fires at varying frequency. This varys from car to car. Some DI's even work fine except that they cause the ECU to reduce turbo pressure to base boost under most driving conditions (I suppose they either create or "imagine" knock that would not otherwise exist). Very touchy stuff.
