I did mention the the 5mm, perhaps not in the tools section? Everyone should have a set of metric hex keys. These bolts are nasty if they get stuck. They are not a hard steel and they can get the hex depression stripped easy enough. Even if you don't have a brake job to do, it would be worth removing these and replacing with anti sieze or some white grease. And don't over tighten!!! These only serve to keep the rotor indexed with the bolt holes so you can get the wheel bolted up. After the wheel is in place the 5mm hex retaining bolt is not doing much at all. If it gets siezed and stripped, then replacing the rotor will be grim!

For others: Many remove the guide bolts only for pad only changes. Perhaps these are best left alone if they are working right. I am thinking that it is best to avoid contamination etc. One removed via the 8mm guide bolts the pad replacement might be easier.

Getting the 10mm bolts to get lined up and started seems difficult at times but I was able to get them started in a minute or two.

You talked about how long it took. It might take just as long to get your nails clean. Good idea about the rubber gloves. I have a box of them but never considered them for this work. I will definately give them a go.

How is your braking with green rotors and pads.., scarey at first?

Note to others: Brake rotors are shipped wet with oil to avoid rust. That is why they sell large spray cans of brake cleaner. That stuff is a degreaser solvent.

Replacing the external stainless steel springs can be difficult. How did that go for you?
