Definately sounds easier, ligher and easier to hang to keep the strain off of the hoses too.
If my brakes would wear out faster had not have 40% pad thickness left after 130000 miles I might have found this out for myself. I replaced my rotors because I guessed after 6.5 years it was about time.
When you replace the rotors, you don't want to remove the guide pins and calipers, then also remove the 10mm bolts and the rest of the assembly.
Why silicone lub??? It is not really a good lubricant. Why not white lithium grease or moly loaded lithium grease which are good if water challenged.
